1994 Miss Universe Sushmita Sen of India

Sushmita Sen is one fine lady who captured my attention as a teenager on beauty queens. When she won the Miss Universe 1994 title here in the Philippines, she created quite a stir with her intelligent answer on the question,"What is the essence of a woman?". Until now, she still commands the same curiosity on how she fared since then.

She is ultimately one classy lady who have remained an icon of style and fashion. She had become the most popular actress in Bollywood and continues to shine in the ramp and in the music scene.

It is said that she withdrawn her candidature with almost twenty-one other candidates in the 1994 Femina Miss India when Aishwarya Rai joined the contest. It was her mother who encouraged her to take up the challenge. Finally, in a tie-breaking question, she went on to represent India in the Miss Universe pageant. She made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win the title.

The girl, despite poor beginnings and average education, is showing grit and class in managing her husband, family, stardom and popular mother-in-law.
